Kia Ora, welcome to Christchurch where you will meet the others in the group along with your tour leaders. After boarding your bus, sit back and relax while we drive down the scenic East Coast to Dunedin. We will pass through Ashburton and Dunedin stopping at the spectacular, rounded Moeraki boulders on the beach and at the Victorian town of Oamaru.
Dunedin is the city of the South, known as the Edinburgh of New Zealand wearing its Scottish heritage with pride. The city is also the home to 15,000 students and a bustling happening place. It is surrounded by dramatic hills and sits at the foot of a long harbour. After a brief sightseeing tour of the city we will have time to Baldwin Street which is recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the steepest street in the world – let’s see who gets to the top of the street fastest!
In the evening we will go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant in the heart of Dunedin.

On Dunedin’s doorstep you will find incredible wildlife including the world’s rarest penguins and, at Taiaroa Head, the world’s only mainland breeding colony of Royal Albatross which we will explore in the morning.
Around lunchtime begins the time all you thrill-seekers and adrenalin-junkies have been longing for – we head off to the birth place of bungee-jumping and the adventure capital of New Zealand, if not the world. From Dunedin we travel through central Otago and through fruit growing areas.
After checking into our hostel in Queenstown, we will take the Skyline Gondola on to Bob’s Peak above Queenstown. This is the steepest gondola in the southern hemisphere and from the top one has an awesome view over Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and over to the mighty Remarkables mountain range. We will enjoy a traditional & powerful Maori Haka performance, followed by an original Kiwi buffet dinner. A truly unique New Zealand experience!
Tonight you will be taken on a journey through Maori mythical legends followed by a delicious buffet dinner. Feel the spirit of our proud history celebrated in traditional song & dance. Experience the fearsome haka and the stunning poi display. A unique live show performed by Queenstown’s leading Kapa Haka group.

Jump off a bridge, swing over a canyon, paddle your way through a raging river – there’s nothing you can’t do (as long as you have permission from your parents of course ;-) ).
For the more faint-hearted there are stunning cruises to Milford or Doubtful Sound that are sure to inspire. Those of you that do not book any of the extra adventure activities have a chance to explore Queenstown. We will go for walk into town, do some sighteeing and shopping, and we take a walk along famous Lake Wakatipu. Tonight is free time for everyone, take a stroll into town or spend time to look at the fantastic photos everyone has made and update your Facebook pages.

Milford Sound is a world-renowned natural wonder. Nowhere else in Fiordland do the mountains stand so tall, straight out of the sea. Luxuriant rainforest clings to sheer rock walls and waterfalls tumble hundreds of metres to the sea below.
We drive to Milford via Te Anau and along the magical Milford Road to the sound, where we will board our cruise ship. While we cruise through the sound the ship comes so close to waterfalls that water soaks the foredeck, or drift gently while watching out for dolphins, seals and penguins. Whatever the fiord’s mood – brooding and wet, or tranquil in the sunshine – it will inspire you.
We return the way we came. It’s a long bus trip but it’s worth it and we will stop along the way for breaks and fantastic photo opportunities.
Tonight we spend at the hostel comparing photos and have time to update our Facebook pages and blogs.

After a leisurely morning where you can explore a bit of Queenstown and the Lake Wakatipu shoreline, perhaps do some shopping we leave and head north to picturesque Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo and the other lakes in the Mackenzie County are a wonderful opaque turquoise colour, the result of glacier-ground rock-sediment in the water. We will drive through Cromwell, over the stark landscape of Lindis Pass and through the McKenzie country. In the distance we see the majestic skyline of the Southern Alps, and at Lake Pukaki we have a chance to see Aoraki – Mount Cook in the distance, New Zealand’s tallest mountain.
In the evening we will enjoy some time at the Alpine Springs hot pools and have a special Kiwi Farewell dinner as it is the last day on tour.

This morning we take a walk at Lake Tekapo and then head northeast to Geraldine and Ashburton, where we stop for a break. After lunch we continue to Christchurch, where we sadly we have to say goodbye to each other. Return at Christchurch Airport approx 3pm. But we are certain that some of you will meet again and that the experience you made whilst on tour will last a lifetime.
