Itinerary

DAY 1: AUCKLAND

Kia Ora! Good to have you aboard our International Student Combo Tour! We will spend the first day on tour in New Zealand’s biggest city. If you'd like, you can experience some fun adventure activities in NZ's biggest city or just go on a tour of the city and explore the famous Auckland waterfront. In the evening our guide will take you for a visit up the Skytower, a truly breathtaking experience with awesome views over Auckland at night.

DAY 2: AUCKLAND - HAHEI (COROMANDEL)

Today we head to the Coromandel Peninsula. The area called Coromandel is one of quite stunning beaches and bays and very popular as a holiday spot for New Zealanders. It is home to Hot Water Beach, so named because of the hot springs which surface on the sand for two hours either side of low tide. If the tides allow we will take a spade and dig our own hot pool.

DAY 3: HAHEI (COROMANDEL)

Today we will spend another day in beautiful Hahei. You will have the opportunity to spend more time on the beach, go for a guided kayak trip or book surf lessons. There’s lots to do and see.

DAY 4: HAHEI - ROTORUA

Our destination today is Rotorua - but along the way, you will have the chance to visit the famous Hobbiton Movie Set from Lord of the Rings (as an extra activity)! Rotorua sits on the shores of Lake Rotorua and is built over a geothermal hot spot. There are numerous natural vents, hot pools and other geothermal features in and around the city. Go shopping in the Rotorua Central Mall and then relax, visit the Polynesian Spa to enjoy a good soak! In the evening you will have the opportunity to find out more about New Zealand’s indigenous people, the Maori, when we visit a traditional Pa (Maori village). You will hear about their history and learn about their culture. Traditions such as the Powhiri (formal welcome), the Haka (war dance) and a delicious Hangi (traditionally earthcooked Maori feast) will turn this evening into an unforgettable experience.

DAY 5: ROTORUA - WELLINGTON

Today we leave Rotorua in the central North Island to make our way to Wellington, the coolest little capital in the world. You’ll have the chance to find out firsthand why it is called “windy Welly” and can enjoy the city-vibe in this colorful and unique city. It’s very much a travel day, we will stop along the way for some lunch, gum-book throwing and at the famous Huka Falls in Taupo.

DAY 6: WELLINGTON - PICTON - NELSON

We spent the morning in Wellington exploring the city before we say "Goodbye" to all students, who are only travelling the North Island. The rest of the group will take the ferry to Picton on the South Island in the early afternoon. In Picton we will hop on the bus to sunny Nelson where we will enjoy the evening together in the hostel playing games and drinking hot chocolate.

DAY 7: NELSON - WESTPORT

Our destination today is Westport on the beautiful West Coast of the South Island. Westport offers great surfing beaches, and this is your opportunity to go surfing on the South Island.

DAY 8: WESTPORT - FRANZ JOSEF

We’ll be heading further down South the along wild West Coast. On our way, we will stop at the famous Pancake Rocks in Punakaiki. In the afternoon we reach one of the world’s most accessible glaciers, the Franz Josef Glacier. Franz Josef Glacier was named after the Austrian emperor Franz Josef and is one of only three glaciers worldwide that Borders a rain forest. And tonight, we will relax in our cosy hostel, play some pool and might go for a little walk to find some glow worms.

DAY 9: FRANZ JOSEF - QUEENSTOWN

This morning, you’ll have the chance to fly up to the Glacier by helicopter to enjoy breathtaking views and take stunning photos. For those, that don’t want to do this, it’s a bit of a sleep-in today before we are heading through Haast Pass to Queenstown, the birthplace of bungy jumping! Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of New Zealand, if not the world. Tonight, has a special treat in store for everyone. Before dinner we head along to the ‘Minus 5 Ice Bar’ for a non-alcoholic cocktail. The bar is made completely of ice, even your cocktail glasses. But you do not have to freeze, you will be given warm clothes and gloves, so you can enjoy your experience in comfort and marvel at the great ice sculptures at the bar.

DAY 10: QUEENSTOWN

Jump off a bridge, swing over a canyon, paddle your way through a raging river – there’s nothing you can’t do (as long as you have permission from your parents of course). For the more faint-hearted there are stunning cruises to Milford or Doubtful Sound that are sure to inspire. Those of you that do not book any of the extra adventure activities have a chance to explore Queenstown. We will go for walk into town, do some sightseeing and shopping, and we take a walk along famous Lake Wakatipu. Tonight is free time for everyone, take a stroll into town or spend time to look at the fantastic photos everyone has made and update your Insta pages!

DAY 11: QUEENSTOWN

Another free day to continue your adrenalin rush. For those of you who do not book any extra activities today there is lots to do and see in Queenstown. Go and check out the world famous Fergburger for lunch or enjoy a coffee on the shore of Lake Wakatipu.

DAY 12: QUEENSTOWN - LAKE TEKAPO

We continue our journey to the picturesque, turquoise coloured Lake Tekapo. Once arrived you can explore this quaint town and enjoy the beautiful views. Dazzling by night, Lake Tekapo is the perfect spot for stargazing. Don’t forget to take a picture with the famous Church of the Good Shepherd in the background. The stunning lake is understandably a popular theme for postcards.

DAY 13: LAKE TEKAPO - KAIKOURA

This morning we leave scenic Tekapo and make our way to New Zealand`s home of the Dusky Dolphins, Kaikoura, where you’ll have the chance to learn all about the vast marine wildlife. The Maori name Kaikoura translates to “meal of crayfish” (Kai – food, koura – crayfish) so make sure you try some while exploring town. In the evening you can cool off in our hostels’ own pool or relax in their hot tub.

DAY 14: KAIKOURA - NELSON/HOME

Today we will complete our round-trip of New Zealand and travel back to sunny Nelson. After an amazing time together it will be time to say goodbye and travel back to your NZ Home. We hope you had heaps of fun!
